Against my better judgement I am writing this review under a full five stars.I have used binders for the restoration and conservation of old leather bindings all my life. Last year I lost the binder whose family have been binding books for three generations of my family, and after several trials I began to dispair of ever replacing him. And then I found Otter Bookbinding; originally through a wonderful restoration job on a 17th century folio that I bought at the Chelsea Rare Book Fair. They are pleasant to deal with and not only do they know all the various techniques of their craft. they are also experts in their execution. They are not cheap; but then proper craftmanship never is; compare the value of a Chippendale chair or a Fabergé egg with its original cost.I said “against my better judgement” because I know how difficult it is to find a binder who knows their craft, and I was tempted keep this a “trade secret”, but that would be unfair to them.

Marysa and her team dealt so expertly and professionally with the inevitable difficulties of printing poems so as to appear in the correct configurations, even after a change in book size. They took excellent care to produce to an extremely high standard the very book I had originally imagined. At every stage they gave friendly personal attention, and the standard of craftsmanship was of the highest order. I would unreservedly recommend them.

I am beyond impressed with the service, quality, attention to detail and outstanding skill of Otter Bookbinding. After a long trawl of other potential suppliers we engaged Marysa at Otter Bookbinding to print and bind multiple copies of our 300-page 'Ross Family History'. And we are so glad that we did.There are now so many faceless Internet companies and, even on those occasions where one gets the desired result, there is little satisfaction in giving one's business to such anonymous and impersonal organisations.But that's not the case with Otter Bookbinding.
