Fountains Hall
This is the Hall that was built after the dissolution of the abbey. Some of it is still lived in but a lot of the bottom floor is open and you can see exhibitions about the whole estate. At one point, it was not the main hall in the estate but its successor, Studley Hall, was destroyed in a fire so the original hall remains. It has appeared on TV as well for exterior scenes.

Old Gorhambury House
We enjoyed our visit to the Elizabethan mansion ruins. Met and had a little conversation with the honourable Viscountess Lady Rosanagh Grimston. She was a lovely person and told us about future events for visitors. Would love to learn about the history of such a remarkable place.

Bought the Winter Escape Package for the wife and her sister, very happy with the price and service. I'm going to be in the good books.

Layer Marney Tower Weddings
Awesome venue for weddings it has two areas which suit most styles. A newly refurbished barn and a galley right next door. The towers are amazing for photographs on your big day and the staff are spot on, friendly and professional. The choice to have food suppliers in the court yard for your evening food and make use of the barn and galley if you would like, makes this venue very unique.

Eltham Palace
If you want to escape the crowds and noise of central London for half a day, this is the place to go to. Easily reachable with public transport. The interior is art deco, so not a typical castle. The garden is splendid, and a nice walk.

Auckland Castle Deer House
Free to visit and explore, well maintained and signs of further improvement.Didn't see any deer, lots of sheep and lots of poo. It was like a working farm around, some of the pathways were impossible to navigate without excrement laden shoes. Wear washable footwear. The walks around and river were lovely. Highly recommended.

Sutton Scarsdale Hall
Atmospheric ruined stately pile on a windswept hillside with breathtaking panoramic views. Fenced off for safety by the national trust for repairs. Well worth a quick visit.

Hartlebury Castle
This is a very interesting and historical building with a museum of interesting things. The castle itself was the home of the Bishop of Worcester basically since the Bishopric was founded until relatively recently. The house is full of interesting rooms and there are talking paintings that explain the use of the rooms, there is also an audio guide included in the price. The Buildings are set in beautiful parkland. It is a fascinating place full of little details and things to see, the museum is great with well maintained and explained displays of toys, clothes and everyday items from the last 150 years. The cafe is very popular and the cake and tea that we had was excellent. All the staff that we encountered were really nice and helpful, explaining some of the things to look out for and some of the areas of special interest.Toilets are really modern, fresh and clean. There is plenty of car parking.Well worth a visit.
